How Much Does Solar Cost in Queensland? A 2026 Guide for Moreton Bay Homes
Solar for a Moreton Bay home starts from $6,990, and solar with a battery starts from $18,490. Both prices include GST and are after the government solar rebate. Your final price depends mainly on system size, your roof and what your switchboard needs.

What affects the price of solar
No two quotes are the same, because no two homes are the same. These are the main things that move the price:
System size. Measured in kilowatts (kW). A bigger system has more panels and usually a larger inverter, so it costs more, but it also produces more power.
Panels and inverter. Prices vary between brands and models. We install the brand you prefer, and can talk you through the options.
Your roof. Roof pitch, height, material and how many sections the panels are split across all affect installation time.
Your switchboard. Some older homes need a switchboard upgrade before solar can be connected safely. This is best found at the quote, not on installation day.
Adding a battery. A battery adds to the cost, but it also qualifies for its own federal discount. See our guide to the Cheaper Home Batteries Program.
How the solar rebate works in Queensland
The main solar rebate in Queensland is a federal one. It works through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme.
When an eligible system is installed by an accredited installer, it creates certificates based on how much clean energy the system is expected to produce. Your installer claims those certificates and takes their value off your price, so the rebate is already built into your quote.
Why the rebate gets smaller every year
The number of certificates a system can create depends on the year it is installed. The Clean Energy Regulator calls this the deeming period, and it drops by one year every year until the scheme ends in 2030:
Year installed | Deeming period (years) |
2026 | 5 |
2027 | 4 |
2028 | 3 |
2029 | 2 |
2030 | 1 |
In plain terms, the same system installed in 2027 creates fewer certificates than it would in 2026, so the rebate is smaller. The change happens each January. If you have been thinking about solar, installing sooner rather than later means a larger rebate.
What size solar system does your home need?
The right size depends on how much power your household uses, when you use it, and whether you plan to add a battery or an electric vehicle. A larger system is not always better value if most of its output is exported to the grid for a low feed-in tariff.
We base every recommendation on your actual electricity bills, not on a standard package. That way the system is sized to what makes financial sense for your household, not the largest system we can sell you.
For a quick estimate, try our free solar savings calculator. It compares the cost of staying on the grid with solar, and with solar plus a battery, using your own bill.

Is solar worth it?
For most households that use a fair share of their power during the day, solar reduces electricity bills from the day it is switched on. How quickly it pays for itself depends on your usage, your system size and your electricity plan, which is why we walk you through the numbers for your home at the quote visit.
Paying for solar
If you would rather not pay the full amount up front, Enhance Electrical and Solar offers finance through Brighte, so you can spread the cost. Ask us about it when you book your free quote.
Rural and off-grid properties
Properties without a reliable grid connection need a different kind of system, with batteries and backup power designed around your site. See our off-grid solar systems page.

Frequently asked questions
How much does solar cost in Queensland?
Solar for a Moreton Bay home starts from $6,990, and solar with a battery starts from $18,490. Both prices include GST and are after the government solar rebate. Your final price depends mainly on system size, your roof and what your switchboard needs.
Is there a solar rebate in Queensland?
Yes. The federal small-scale solar rebate (STCs) applies across Queensland, and it is taken off your price by your installer.
Does the solar rebate change each year?
Yes. It drops every January because the deeming period gets one year shorter, until the scheme ends in 2030.
Can I add a battery later?
Yes. Batteries can be added to existing solar, and the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program can take about 30 per cent off an eligible battery.
